A Dangerous Question: Does Internet Advertising Work at All?

Nineteenth-century retailer John Wanamaker is responsible for perhaps the most repeated line in marketing: “Half the money I spend on advertising is wasted, the trouble is I don’t know which half.”

Today, marketers are grappling with the Wanamaker Paradox: The more we learn which half of advertising is working, the more we realize we’re wasting way more than half.

In May of 2014, the City of Vancouver partnered with the Southwest Washington Art Galleries and the Vancouver Downtown Association to designate the Vancouver Arts District.

Vancouver Arts District goals are to acknowledge the hard work done by arts organizations, especially for the monthly First Friday Art Walks, to grow attendance for all arts programming, and to encourage culture-friendly businesses to locate in the district.

To visually promote the Vancouver Arts District, three local graphic designers were asked to contribute logo concepts for the arts district.  The final chosen design was submitted from J.S. Collard Design.

VAD_Logo_R“We are very pleased to have been asked to submit a logo concept with all the talented graphic designers in Southwest Washington.  J.S. Collard Design is very committed to assist economic development through the arts.  It’s a great honor to have our design chosen to represent the Vancouver Arts District throughout the community”, stated Scott Collard of J.S. Collard Design.

Maureen Andrade, who headed the committee to establish the arts district said, “Scott Collard blends a high level of creativity and professionalism in his craft. Working with him on the logo for the Vancouver Arts District was easy. At the end of the selection process, his design won out with both the arts and business communities. On behalf of the Vancouver Arts District, thank you Scott!”

Recently signs have been posted to indicate the Vancouver Arts District to designate the Downtown corridor with external boundaries of Columbia Street, Sixth Street, 13th Street and Ft. Vancouver Way.
